What is mount of venus?
Mount of venus is a goddess of love and is a rounded mass of fat at the lower end of the abodmen above the vulva.
Describe labia majora
These are two visible longitudinal folds which begin at mons veneris and extend backwards upto within 2 centimeters of anus. Labia majora project the perineum and contains large sweat glands.
What are labia minora?
These are known as small lips i.e. two folds 25-35 mm long 8 to 14 millimeters high and 3 to 5 millimetres thick. There is no much fat in it. If labia majora are separated labia minora are seen.
Bartholin glands are situated in the labia minora. They produce transparent and slippery mucus secretion and thus help the coitus.
What is hymen?
This membrane is a thin fold situated at the entrance of the vagina. It does not completely cover the vagina to permit the menstrual fluid to come out.
Describe Clitoris
It is situated just above the vaginal entrance at the upper end of labia minora and partly covered by labia majora. It is similar to penis in male and consist of a small erectile shaft and a glans which is highly sensitive. Its stimulation helps in arousal. Clitoris is the only organ in the body which has no other function except to give pleasure during intercourse.
What is Vagina?
It is a tube like 7.5 to 10 centimeters in length extending from the vulva to the cervix directed upwards and backwards. During sexual intercourse it accomodates penis and during childbirth it functions as exit for the infant. Only lower third of vagina is supplied by nerves and has sensations.
Describe uterus
It is a thick walled hollow muscular organ about 7 centimeters long. It is pear shapped. Upper extended portion is called fundus and lower part is cervix. Cervix surrounds the cervical canal and projects into the vaginal cavity.
Cervical canal is 2.5 centimeters long. Function of uterus is to accomodate and nourish the growing embryo and du ring pregnancy it goes into necessary changes.
What are fallopian tubes?
These are two in number, one end of tube is joined to the side of the uterus while the other end opens in to the abdominal cavity.
Each one is about 10 centimeters long. Inner cavity is having cilia i.e. hair like structures which move and flicker all the time and help in bringingovum and sperm together and later transport the female egg to the womb.
What are ovaries?
These are two in number, each is 4 centimeters long and 2.5 centimeters wide. These contain 500000 fully formed eggs of which 400 are matured and liberated during total life.
