MALE SEXUAL MYTHS: MYTHS ABOUT SEMEN
SPERMATORRHOEA or Semenuria is the involuntary discharge of semen in the urine. In the tradition-bound Indian culture, life-producing semen is thought of as the priceless white fluid to be conserved by men. Loss of semen is equivalent to loss of vitality and energy, and a slight white discharge from the penis is an alarm signal for its unfortunate victim. Quacks have called it a dreadful diseasespermatorrhoea, meaning loss, of vital semen. Having frightened the unfortunate victim out of his wits, they treat it with every conceivable medicine which he faithfully swallows morning, noon and night. He is even given electrotherapy to fix the leakage. PHOSPHATURIA: This is a harmless condition where the urine contains a high percentage of phosphates. It is common in vegetarians whose diet tends to produce an alkaline urine loaded with crystals of phosphates which give it a whitish appearance. Many adolescents mistake it for spermatorrhoea and worry that the continuous loss of vital semen will ultimately make them impotent. A simple microscopic examination of the urine will show that it is loaded with phosphate crystals.
